Who We Are

Texas Language Learning Alternatives, Inc. (dba Capitol School of Austin) is a non-profit, private educational option for children with speech, language, and learning differences. Established in 1990, Capitol School is Austin’s first and only private, specialized school for children with learning problems which are primarily language based. Students enrolled at Capitol School have average or above average learning potential, but they are at risk for failure in traditional school settings because they process information differently than their schoolmates.

Capitol School’s language program is directed and staffed by Masters-level Speech Language Pathologists or Special Education teachers, and is designed to provide intensive speech, language, and learning services. All Speech Pathologists hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.

The school's dedicated staff provides a personalized approach which focuses on student's strengths and individual development. Each program is multi-sensory, emphasizing language proficiency integrated with skills in self-help, socialization, and gross and fine motor movement.

Our Mission

The mission of Capitol School of Austin is to provide an enriched learning environment where children with speech, language, and learning differences can reach their full potential and develop skills necessary to succeed in future educational settings.
