Amy Cunningham: Founder

Amy continues to be involved in all aspects of the school. Amy has a master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas Health Science Center. She holds a Texas License and ASHA certification in speech-language pathology.

Jeannette Young: Director

Jeannette has been with CSA since 1991. She worked as a lead therapist and then Assistant Director for several years before becoming the Director in 2006. Jeannette has a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. She holds a Texas License and ASHA certification in speech-language pathology.

Kelsey Stewart: Director of Marketing & Development

Kelsey was one of CSA’s first students. She has a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from TCU and her master’s degree in Business Administration from St. Edward’s University. Having spent seven years in the corporate world before joining the CSA team, she has experience in Public Relations, Public Affairs, design and marketing.

Heidi Gjerset: Administrative Manager

Heidi is an integral member of the CSA team. She received her master’s in Museum Anthropology from George Washington University where she went on to work at the Smithsonian before eventually joining us at CSA.

Connie : Language Development Class (LDC)

Connie has a Masters and Bachelors of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Alberta (Canada) and over 13 years experience working with preschool and school-aged children with a variety of communication challenges.

Mandy Crombie: Language Stimulation

Mandy’s clinical practice has focused on working with children in the private clinic, public school, daycare, and home settings. Mandy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Medical University of South Carolina. Mandy holds a Texas License and ASHA certification in speech-language pathology.

Vanessa Gonzales: Preschool Level 1

Prior to joining CSA, Vanessa worked as an SLP in a variety of settings and most of her experience is based in language, articulation/phonology, fluency, and social skills. Vanessa has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Texas State University and a Master of Arts (Research) degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Saint Louis University. Vanessa holds a Texas License and ASHA certification in speech-language pathology.

Kristin Knifton: Preschool Level 2

Kristin was an assistant at CSA during graduate school and worked as a private therapist and substitute teacher at CSA in 2016. Kristin has a master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from UT Austin and holds ASHA certification and Texas licenses in speech-language pathology and audiology, as well as Texas teaching certification. She has spent the majority of her career at Texas School for the Deaf and also spent a year teaching students with hearing impairment at nearby Brentwood Elementary.

Courtney Dawson: Level 3

Courtney graduated from Baylor University with a Masters of Science in Speech Pathology as well as a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Terri Hathaway: Level 4

Terri holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology from Stephen F. Austin State University and is licensed as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant. Since 1995, Terri has worked in a variety of educational settings including public and private schools as well as in a private practice clinic.

Amy Sydes: Level 5

Amy graduated with a Bachelor of Education from The University of Arkansas and a master's degree in Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin.

Sharon English: Level 6/7

Sharon has been with CSA since 1993 and shares her valuable expertise of children with language/learning differences and attention difficulties. Sharon has a Bachelor of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and master's degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston. Sharon holds a Texas license in speech-language pathology and has ASHA certification.

Ellen Pokorny Roberts: Librarian

Ellen has been with CSA since 1991, teaching Level 1 and 2 preschool classes for 10 years. She now teaches drama and serves as the school librarian, helping all levels enjoy their weekly library time. Ellen holds a Bachelor of Education from Stephen F. Austin and a master's degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas. Ellen has a Texas state teaching certificate, a Texas License for speech-language pathology and ASHA certification.
